Atwater Place enjoys a variety of transportation options in the immediate vicinity, encouraging less car dependency and a more sustainable lifestyle. The neighborhood features over six options, including the country’s first commuter aerial tram to be built since 1976. Combined with the streetcar, bike paths, and three Zipcar spots, the variety of transit options means less need to use a car. Or, if you'd like to borrow a car for a quick errand, the South Waterfront participates in a car-sharing program called Zipcar, with three stations near Atwater Place to pick up or drop off a fuel-efficient, hybrid, Super Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV).
Restaurants, shops, and entertainment throughout downtown Portland are easily accessible via the Portland Streetcar, which has three stops in South Waterfront, one of which is two blocks from Atwater Place. Besides going through downtown’s performing arts venues, galleries in the Pearl District, and the shops and restaurants of Northwest 23rd, it also connects to the downtown transit mall for travel to NE Portland, Beaverton, Hillsboro, and the airport.
